The Legacy Of Yesteryear The Legacy of Yesteryear is the second book written by Marilyn Magney Newkirk and was published in the fall of 2008 by Raymond Schafer Art and Publishing. In her book, Mrs. Newkirk traces historical events that began as early as 1810 when a Canadian firm, the North West Company, established the first of several trading posts that operated along the Little Spokane River in Washington Territory.

Spokane 22nd St and the Fifties Marilyn Magney Newkirk began writing about the fifties in 2001 while she was working as a Vice President of Operations for Presbyterian Retirement Communities Northwest. Her story begins in the late forties when veterans were returning home from World War II. Marilyn wanted to illustrate what life was like in mid-size America for those returning GI'S.
